Hello! My name Melanie Reeves, and I will be your child’s English Language Arts’ teacher this 2018-2019 school year. This is my sixth year teaching at Milan Middle School, and I am so excited about this year. This year, I have the privilege of exclusively teaching sixth grade ELA. I graduated from Freed Hardeman University with an Education Degree (K-6) and with a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision.
Personally, I am the daughter of Gene and Becky Reeves, and I come from a family of teachers. Mrs. Becky also teaches at MMS, and I’m so excited to be teaching in the same school with her. My sister, Emily Burleson, is an employee in the Humboldt School District, and Dr. Reeves is a professor at Freed Hardeman University. I live in Jackson, TN, and attend church at Campbell Street Church of Christ in Jackson.
Because I am a product of this school, it is very important to me to be able to prepare my students for the demands and rigor of the college environment. Your child is enrolled in my advanced class, which means I will have high expectations of the work and effort your child extends. I also expect a great deal from myself, so I will not be asking anything that I will not be doing myself. My goal is simple—to help my students be successful.
